CALGARY, A.B.— Quinnipiac women's ice hockey head coach Cass Turner, was named an assistant coach for the 2023-24 Canada's National Women's Development Team as announced by Hockey Canada on Friday, July 7.
Coach Turner won a silver medal with Canada's National Women's Under-18 team at the IIHF U18 Women's World Championship and won gold as an assistant in 2014.
"Every opportunity to represent Canada and work with the best staff and players in the country is incredibly special," said Coach Turner. "This will be an important event to continue to build the pool of future Olympians in Canada so I can't wait to get started and am incredibly grateful to Hockey Canada for the chance to make a difference."
Turner is entering her ninth season as head coach of the women's ice hockey team, leading the Bobcats to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the second straight year. In her first season as head in 2015-16, Turner led the team to 30 wins, an NCAA record for wins by a first-year women's hockey head coach. This past season, Coach Turner led the team to another 30-win season, posting the highest national ranking in program history (National No. 2), and the least penalized team in the country and ECAC Hockey.
