Bobcats Honor Six Members of the Class of '23, Split Iona Doubleheader

HAMDEN, Conn.—The Quinnipiac softball team honored the Class of 2023 on Friday, April 21 against Iona. The Bobcats split the series against Iona losing the first matchup 4-0 and taking game two by a final score of 6-5.
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
The Class of 2023 was highlighted with three seniors and three graduate students. This group of student-athletes have combined for 441 games played, 227 hits, 137 runs, and 110 RBIs throughout their careers.
Serena Fogg, a native of Vancouver, Washington, saw action in 68 games and started 61. The center fielder posted 33 hits, nine doubles, two homeruns and 15 RBIs during her time as a Bobcat. Named to the MAAC All-Academic twice and is graduating with her degree in Nursing come May.
Alyssa Noce, hailing from Monroe, Conn., played a huge role in the team's success over the years. Playing in 29 games during her career, she has eight runs under her belt. She will be graduating with a degree in health science studies and is a two-time MAAC All-Academic team recipient.
Lala Pascual, a senior from Marimar, Florida has a career high .283 batting average and .484 slugging average this season. Pascual put up 13 doubles, 43 hits, and 28 RBIs through 67 games during her career as a Bobcat. She was named the MAAC Player of the Week for her efforts against Holy Cross earlier in the season.
Hannah Davis, a graduate student from Foxborough, Mass., has posted her best season yet hitting an average of .222, a slugging average of .444, and a .979 fielding percentage. She has seen action in 108 games through her time as a Bobcat. Tallying her first, second AND third career homeruns this season, she's a three-time MAAC All-Academic team honoree and will be graduating with a degree in health science studies.
Bridget Nasir, a west coast native from San Mateo, California, had a stellar season this year, posting a .295 hitting average. Starting in all 168 games during her career, she has 105 hits, 56 runs, 17 doubles, and 23 stolen bases. Named to the MAAC All-Academic team three years straight and will be graduating with a degree in Nursing in the spring.

Fourth Inning-
- Iona broke the scoreless streak in the fourth inning as a groundout to first brought Sheeran home from third.
- The next play brough in two more runs for the Gaels as Capuano singled to left.
Seventh Inning-
- Iona sealed their victory in the seventh as Capuano doubled to left center to bring Weaver home and the final score 4-0 Iona.
Game two
First Inning-
- Sheeran hit a two-run homer in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead.
- The Bobcats responded in the bottom half of the frame as Natalia Apatiga singled to center field to bring Brooke Hilliard and Mary Fogg in to even the score at 2.
Third Inning-
- The Gaels regained the lead as a double to left from Sheeran gave Werth time to cross homeplate.
- QU answered Iona's run in the bottom of the third as M. Fogg scored again on a fielder's choice.
- The Bobcats took a 4-3 lead as Hilliard crossed home on a groundout by Hannah Davis.
Fifth Inning-
- Quinnipiac added two more in the fifth as Bridget Nasir doubled to left and gave Hilliard who was on first the go-ahead home.
- Nasir was subsequently brought home by H. Davis on a single to left to put the Bobcats up 6-4.
Seventh Inning-
- Iona made one last push in the seventh to force extra innings as Sheeran hit her second homerun of the day.
