H. Davis' Third Homer of the Year Not Enough Against LIU

BROOKEVILLE, N.Y.—The Quinnipiac women's softball team went back and forth through seven innings, with both teams hitting home runs early in the matchup. Hannah Davis opened the scoring for the Bobcats with a homer to left field to even the score at one. The Bobcats had a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth before the Sharks tied it up. LIU tallied the game winning run in the seventh to take the game 4-3.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Inning-
- A home run from the Sharks in the first inning had the Bobcats down 1-0 early.
Second Inning-
- QU responded in the second inning, tying the game up at one as Hannah Davis recorded her own home run, her third of the season.
Fourth Inning-
- With H. Davis in scoring position, Amanda Engel singled to short to bring Davis home and the score 2-1 in favor of the Bobcats.
Fifth Inning-
- A triple to left field from Mary Fogg put her on third and brought Brooke Hilliard up to bat. Hilliard grounded out to the pitcher but gave M. Fogg time to cross home and give the Bobcats a two-run lead.
- LIU started their comeback in the bottom of the frame, tying it up at three after K. Blanchard scored on a single by Castro who advanced to second on an error, followed by a single by J. Cuffie to score Castro.
Seventh Inning-
- Blanchard, who was on third, scored the game winning run on a single to right center from Lyman.
NOTES
- Logan Angers made her QU softball debut against LIU.
- Hannah Davis recorded her third home run of the year.
- H. Davis went 4-2 at the plate, with two runs, two hits, one RBI and one home run.
- Hilliard and Amanda Engel each had an RBI.
- Gonzalez pitched 4.0 innings while Sydney Horan pitched 2.2, striking out one.
