Sakoda Tied For Third After Day One at St. John's Invitational

HASTINGS-on-HUDSON, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's golf opened play at the St. John's Invitational, as the Bobcats sit in fifth place in a field of 11 at the tournament held at the Saint Andrew's Golf Club Monday afternoon.
Kaylee Sakoda leads Quinnipiac's grouping, tying for third place after shooting 72 (+1) to open the tournament.
Quinnipiac sits in third place after scoring 301 (+17) after the first 18 holes of play. Hosts St. John's leads the field after the first round after shooting 291 (+7), while Columbia narrowly trails in second after scoring 294 (+10).
Sakoda opened the first round on fire, shooting for par in eight of the first nine holes of play and scoring a birdie on the other to score a 35 (-1) on the front nine. Leeyen Peralta closely followed, shooting 74 (+3) to tie for 13th after the first round of play.
Meg Yoshida had a solid first round of play, tying for 17th after scoring 76 (+5), while Aimee Uchida tied for 29th shooting 79 (+8). Fuge Zhang (84; +13) and Sandhya Vaikuntam (85; +14) rounded out Quinnipiac's grouping, tying for 47th and 74th, respectively.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, April 11, when they wrap play with the second round of the St. John's Invitational.
