CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — A two-time Tim Taylor ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year, Quinnipiac men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold is a finalist to three-peat for the accolade, the league announced on Monday.
Pecknold led the Bobcats to a 28-3-3 record during the regular season, tying the program's record for most regular season wins. He also aided the team to a 20-2-0 record in league play, the most ECAC wins by a league member in 35 seasons.
Quinnipiac finished the regular season amongst the nation's best in multiple categories, currently leading the nation in both scoring defense (1.62) and scoring margin (2.35), while standing fourth in offense (3.97).
The head coach of the 2023 USA National Junior team as well, Pecknold had a banner season that included a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships, overtaking the top spot in wins amongst active Division I coaches and winning the 600th game of his career, a 5-2 victory over Sacred Heart on January 27.
The 29th-year leader of the program has earned back to back ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year honors, as well as led Quinnipiac to seven Cleary Cup championships in the last 11 campaigns.
He leads the Bobcats back on the ice this weekend when the squad hosts Yale in a Best-of-3 series during the ECAC Quarterfinals.
