HAMDEN, Conn. — Ahead of its postseason run, the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey program continues to maintain its No. 2 position in the national polls and Pairwise rankings as they all were released on Monday afternoon.
The Bobcats received 12 first-place votes and 955 total points in the USCHO rankings, solidly in second ahead of Denver and behind Minnesota. Quinnipiac recieved five first-place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, with 640 total points.
Quinnipiac finished the regular season tied for the most wins in the country, finishing 28-3-3 and an NCAA-best .868 winning percentage. The Bobcats also had the nation's best scoring defense (1.62) and scoring margin (2.35), while boasting the fourth-best offense in the country (3.97).
Both ends were anchored by Hobey Baker Award nominees Yaniv Perets and Collin Graf, with Perets leading the country in goals-against average (1.55) and standing fifth in save percentage (.927) nationally. Graf comes into the weekend fourth in points per game (1.44) and seventh in assists per contest (0.88), finishing up a stellar first regular season as a Bobcat.
Rand Pecknold's club finished off the regular season on a nation's best, 10-game winning streak and will host 10th-seeded Yale in the ECAC Quarterfinals, starting Friday night at 7 p.m. at M&T Bank Arena. Game 2 is slated for Saturday night for the same time and an if-necessary, Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
