NEW BRITAIN, Conn.—The Quinnipiac softball team dropped a single game series to the CCSU Blue Devils on Friday, March 31. The Bobcats started off strong with a 2-1 lead after the first inning but a third inning flurry from the Blue Devils put the Bobcats behind by five runs.

QU made a push in the fifth with two runs and added another in the seventh to bring the score within one but ultimately fell 8-7.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Inning-

With Brooke Hilliard on second, Lala Pascual hit her first home run of the season to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Devils cut QU's lead in half in the bottom half of the inning, when Piripavel walked with the bases loaded, advancing Stringer home.

Third Inning-

CCSU took the lead in the third after a double to right center from Bruyns brought in Piripavel, Manory, and Stringer bringing the score to 4-2 CCSU.
The Blue Devils added three more to the board as a home run from Warn brought Lawton and Bruyns home.

Fourth Inning-

Pascual doubled to right field and then advanced to third on a groundout from Nasir. Pascual crossed home on the next play when Serena Fogg grounded out to short, giving Pascual the chance to bring the score to 7-3 CCSU.
The Blue Devils added one more to the board in the bottom of the fourth as A triple to right field from Cino brought LaMorte who was on second home, and the score to 8-3 Blue Devils.

Fifth Inning-

The Bobcats started their comeback in the fifth by adding three runs to the board. A double from Hilliard to center gave M. Fogg and Sofia Vega the opportunity to cross home.
With Hilliard on second and a walk from Pascual, Bridget Nasir singled to second to advance Pascual to third, Hilliard home and the score within two.

Seventh Inning-

QU made their final push to force extra innings when they brought the score within one with two outs on the board. With Hilliard in scoring position at third, Pascual on second and Nasir up to bat, Nasir singled to right center and brought Hilliard home but it wasn't enough as Serena Fogg lined out to center and ended the game with a final score of 8-7 Blue Devils.

NOTES

Lala Pascual recorded her first home run of the season and had two runs, two hits, two RBIs and one double through two at-bats.
Brooke Hilliard had three runs, two hits, two RBIs and one double.
Bridget Nasir had two hits, two RBIs and one stolen base.
Sydney Horan and Jackie Gonzalez collectively struck out six.
