HAMDEN, Conn. — After clinching its second consecutive Connecticut Ice Championship, the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team vaulted up to No. 2 in both national polls, the organizations announced on Monday afternoon.
The Bobcats claimed one higher spot in the DCU/USCHO poll and jumped two spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings after beating Sacred Heart and No. 12 UConn to win the title at M&T Bank Arena.
Receiving four first place votes, Quinnipiac moved up after former-No. 1 St. Cloud was swept at Minnesota Duluth. They stand 19 points ahead of Boston University.
Rand Pecknold's club received a pair of first place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings and stand the same margin ahead of the Terriers.
Ahead for Quinnipiac is another ranked battle on Friday night when they head to Cambridge, Mass., to take on No. 8 Harvard on the front end of its ECAC weekend. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m., and can be seen live on ESPN+.
