HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's soccer heads back to Hamden for its first home contest of the 2022 season on Thursday afternoon, hosting non-conference foe Stony Brook at the QU Soccer Stadium.

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's soccer heads back to Hamden for its first home contest of the 2022 season on Thursday afternoon, hosting non-conference foe Stony Brook at the QU Soccer Stadium.
SEASON OPENER: WIN vs. LAFAYETTE
- The Bobcats defeated Lafayette, 3-0, last week on Aug. 25 to begin the new campaign.
- Quinnipiac scored three second-half goals to earn the victory.
- After both teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half, Courtney Chocol was able to find the back of the net twice in the second half to secure the first multi-goal game of her career.
- Anna Costello scored Quinnipiac's second goal of the contest, netting the first collegiate goal of the sophomore's career.
- Junior keeper Sofia Lospinoso stopped the only two shots she saw in net en route to earning her first shutout of the 2022 campaign.
- Junior Courtney Chochol was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Aug. 22. This is the first weekly award honor for Chochol this season after just one game played.
- The Ontario-native enjoyed a stellar start to her junior season, netting two goals in the Bobcats' season opening 3-0 win over Lafayette on Aug. 18. Her two goals and four points this season currently rank first in the MAAC (4.00 points/game).
- The Bobcats and Seawolves will meet for the first time since 2009. Quinnipiac won the matchup on 9/10/2009, earning a 2-1 road victory in double overtime.
- Stony Brook begins the new season with a 2-0-0 record, defeating Fordham and Bryant in non-conference action.
- Quinnipiac women's soccer has been selected as the preseason MAAC favorite, as announced on Thursday, Aug. 11 by the league office.
- The Bobcats earned the No. 1 spot in the 2022 Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 10 of 11 first-place votes and 116 total points.
- Junior Rebecca Cooke was also tabbed the league's Preseason Player of the Year. The Dublin, Ireland-native scored a team-high 13 goals last year for Quinnipiac, including six scores against MAAC opponents.
- Cooke is joined by senior midfielder Markela Bejleri on the Preaseason All-MAAC Team. Bejleri recorded 14 points over 19 games this past season at QU.

HEAD COACH DAVE CLARKE
- Dave Clarke enters his 23rd season at Quinnipiac.
- Clarke has firmly cemented himself as one of the premiere college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He led the Bobcats to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2000 and a regular season title in 2001, and is the winningest coach in QU program history (203 wins).
- The Bobcats 2022 fall schedule features 16 total contests, including eight home games at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden.
- The Bobcats will open the fall slate on Thursday, Aug. 18 on the road against Lafayette. Quinnipiac then returns to Hamden for its home opener against Stony Brook on Aug. 25.
- The MAAC Tournament will take place on Oct. 30, Nov. 3 and Nov. 6 at the highest seed
- The Bobcats went 13-5-1 last year, going 7-3 in MAAC play during the fall 2021 campaign.
- Quinnipiac reached the MAAC Championship, falling against Monmouth on Nov. 7 in West Long Branch, N.J.
- QU has advanced to at least the semifinal round of the postseason MAAC Tournament in five of the last six years.
