Cooke Scores Twice, Bobcats Top Stony Brook in Home Opener

HAMDEN, Conn. - Rebecca Cooke scored twice in the second half, leading Quinnipiac women's soccer past Stony Brook on Thursday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium.
The Bobcats improve to 2-0-0 with the victory. Cooke scored once in the 50th minute of action to tie the game 1-1, then found the back of the net again in the 85th minute to lead QU to the comeback win. Courtney Chochol tallied her first assist of the year on Cooke's second goal.
Sofia Lospinoso made nine saves for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac outshot Stony Brook 17-12 in total.

- (6' – Quinnipiac 0, Stony Brook 1): Stony Brook's Hannah Maracina got past the Quinnipiac defense off a pass from Linn Beck. Maracina found the back of the net to give Stony Brook the early lead.
- (50' – Quinnipiac 1, Stony Brook 1): Junior Rebecca Cooke dribbled the ball into the box on the far side of the field and slipped past a defender. Cooke ripped a shot with her right foot past the Stony Brook keeper to even the game at one.
- (85' – Quinnipiac 2, Stony Brook 1): Courtney Chochol sent in a shot from the end line and was deflected by the Seawolves keeper. Rebecca Cooke was in the right place at the right time as she fired home to rebound to give the Bobcats the late one goal lead.

- Cooke scored the 17th and 18th goals of her career. She has 18 goals in 24 career games with QU.
