NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Anthony Donofrio homered in the 2022 finale, as the Quinnipiac baseball team came up short in its final game of the campaign, falling 10-4 Saturday afternoon on Bobo Field.

With the loss the Bobcats end the season with a 15-33 record and 8-15 in the MAAC, while the Purple Eagles improved to 19-30 on the campaign and 13-11 in the MAAC with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats struck first in the top of the second after Sebastian Mueller lined a two-run single to the outfield to score Danny Melnick and Michael Kohn, giving Quinnipiac an early 2-0 advantage.

Leading 2-1 in the fourth, a Niagara passed ball allowed Keegan O'Connor to score from third to extend Quinnipiac's lead to 3-1. However, Niagara responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an 8-3 lead. Anthony Donofrio hit a solo homer in the ensuing frame, however, the Purple Eagles responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to push their lead to 10-4.

The deficit proved to be too much for QU as the Bobcats eventually fell 10-4.

Mueller led the offense with a hit and two RBIs
Donofrio went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and an RBI
Kohn contributed two hits in the contest
Kyle Maves, Matt DeRosa and O'Connor contributed a hit in the loss
Kevin Seitter got the start and suffered the loss after allowing eight earned runs in 3.2 innings of work
