POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team saw four players tally two RBIs apiece as the Bobcats were downed by MAAC foe Marist on the road in the weekend series opener, 17-10, Friday afternoon at the McCannBaseball Field.

With the loss the Bobcats fell to 6-17 on the season and 1-3 in the MAAC, while the Red Foxes improved to 14-10 on the campaign with the win and 4-3 in the MAAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 9-0 after the first inning, QU responded with a three spot in the following inning behind a two-run homer from Sam LaChance and a solo shot from Danny Melnick cut the deficit to 9-3.

Trailing 11-3 in the fourth, QU cut the deficit in half behind RBI doubles from Jared Zimbardo and Keegan O'Connor to bring the score to 11-6. The Bobcats added three more runs in the sixth behind an RBI double from Kyle Maves and RBI single from Ian Ostberg to trim the deficit to 11-9.

That would be as close as QU would cut it before Marist pulled away for the 17-10 victory.

LaChance, Zimbardo, Ostberg and O'Connor led the offense with two hits and two RBIs apiece
O'Connor's two hits were both doubles
McGwire Tuffy went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the loss
Brandyn Garcia (4-4) got the start and took the loss after allowing eight runs in the start
