NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team came up short on the road against MAAC foe Iona, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at City Park.

With the loss the Bobcats fell to 9-23 on the season and 3-8 in the MAAC, while the Gaels improved to 3-30 on the campaign and 3-11 in the MAAC with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gaels struck first in the bottom of the opening frame, tallying five runs in the inning to jump out to an early 5-0 advantage.

Trailing 6-0 into the ninth inning, Ian Ostberg drew a bases loaded walk to trim Quinnipiac's deficit to 6-1. However, that would be the only run by QU mustered on the day, as they ultimately fell 6-1.

NEWS AND NOTES

Danny Melnick led the offense with three hits and a stolen base
Anthony Donofrio contributed three hits in the loss as well
Ian Ostberg added three walks and an RBI
Kevin Seitter (1-7) got the start and took the loss after allowing four earned runs in 5.0 innings of work
He struck out four in the outing
Matt DeLuca pitched in relief, surrendering just one run over 3.0 innings of work
