NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team fell short in its MAAC series opener vs. Iona on the road, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at City Park.

With the loss the Bobcats fell to 9-22 on the season and 3-7 in the MAAC, while the Gaels improved to 2-30 on the campaign and 2-11 in the MAAC with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats struck first for a run in the top of the first after Jared Zimbardo led the game off with a solo homer to put Quinnipiac ahead 1-0. However, the Gaels responded with a run in the bottom of the second to tie the contest at 1-1.

The two sides remained tied at 1-1 over the next five innings until Iona pushed across three runs in the bottom of the eighth, before going on to hold on for 4-1 win.
