Softball Drops Doubleheader to Tennessee Tech

COOKVILLE, Tenn. - The Quinnipiac softball team dropped a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on Friday, March 11. The Bobcats were defeated by the Golden Eagles, 11-0 and 2-0. Quinnipiac moves to 1-5 on the season, and Tennessee Tech improves to 14-6. First-year Taylor Walton led the Bobcats with two hits, and first-year Jaclyn Gonzalez pitched six innings with two strikeouts in game two.
Game One:
First-year Sydney Horan got the start in the circle The Golden Eagles jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning with singles from Mackenzi Fitzgerald, Carmen Betts and Kaylan Cole in the inning. Tennessee Tech added another run off a triple from Fitzgerald, who scored off an error. The Golden Eagles would scored six more runs through the bottom of the fourth inning and would hold on to win in the fifth.
Notable Stats:
Jaclyn Gonzalez received the start in the circle in game two against the Golden Eagles. Quinnipiac and Tennessee Tech were scoreless at 0-0 until the sixth inning. Fitzgerald scored the Golden Eagles first run of game two after stealing home on a throwing error by the Bobcats. Sydney Baker-Love would add the Golden Eagles second run of the inning after stealing second base on the play before. Tennessee Tech would hold on to win 2-0 through seven innings.

Quinnipiac will continue the road trip in Tennessee with a game against Indiana State (at Tennessee Tech) on Sunday, March 13 at 6 p.m.
