Paulo Soares Signs with Rochester New York FC

ROCHESTER, NY – Former Quinnipiac men's soccer standout Paulo Soares ('21) has signed with Rochester New York FC – a member of the MLS Next Pro League – as announced by the club on Feb. 4, 2022.
Soares, a member of the Bobcats' soccer program from 2017-2021, will join Rochester New York FC ahead of the MLS Next Pro League's launch this upcoming year. RNY has won four USL Championships, and also captured the 1999 US Open Cup title. The club is the only non-MLS team to have won the US Open Cup since the league's formation.
"I'm very excited and honored to be a part of this new beginning," Soares said via RNYFC.com. "I can't wait to be there, hit the ground and start working to achieve good things, success, and bring joy to the city of Rochester."
The former captain played in 57 career games at Quinnipiac (2017-21). He was tabbed Second Team All-MAAC as a graduate student in 2021, after starting in all 17 games for QU. He was selected to the Spring 2021 All-MAAC Team, as well.
Soares also played for the Cape Verde National Team during his time with the Bobcats. His time with the program included a pair of games vs. Portugal in January of 2019. The midfielder had previously played with the Cape Verde U16 National Team during the 2014 Olympics.
