EDISON, N.J. - First-year setter Damla Gunes was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Nov, 15. This is the first weekly award honor for Gunes this season.
Gunes was stellar for the Bobcats in two games this past week, averaging 10.51 assists, 2.67 digs and 1.25 points per set over six sets of action. In a 2-0 week for Quinnipiac, Gunes totaled 63 assists, 16 digs and five service aces.
Gunes kicked off the week with her fifth double-double of the season behind 28 assists and 11 digs in a sweeping victory over Saint Peter's this past Saturday. She followed that performance with 35 assists, five digs and five service aces in a home sweep over Rider this past Sunday.
