Five Runners Finish Inside Top 8
BOSTON — Five Quinnipiac women's cross country runners finished inside the top eight, helping lead the squad to the win at the New England Cross Country Championships this afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston.
Senior Emily Young led the way, clocking in at 17:56 en route to a second-place finish to pace her squad. Liv Distefano finished in 18:09, placing third.
Rachel St. Germain (18:13), Alessandra Zaffina (18:16) and Corinne Barney (18:17) finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively to help lead the Bobcats to the title.
As a team, the squad finished with 26 points, besting second-place Central Connecticut by 89.
The Bobcats also won the sub-varsity race earlier in the day, as five runners finished inside the Top 7. Tess Bossdorf (19:12) led the way en route to a second-place finish. Asia Mercier (19:22) finished one spot behind while Grace Michaud (19:23) took fifth, Lydia Keys (19:30) finished sixth and Sierra Gray (19:32) placed seventh.

"The women did a great job executing our plan in both the championship and sub-varsity races today. It was exciting to watch the women really work together as a team in a tight pack the whole race. Our top five finished in the top 10 of the race, which is a tremendous accomplishment in such a large field" - head coach Carolyn Martin.

- Young recorded her third, Top 10 performance of the year and her highest finish to date during the 2022 campaign. She finished fourth at the Stony Brook Season Opener and sixth at the Siena XC invite.
- DiStefano also placed her highest of the year, taking third after a seventh-place finish at Siena and eighth place at Stony Brook.
- Marisa Keiser (19:14) turned in a Top 40 performance, finishing 36th, while Alison Diclemente (20:00) placed 75th.
- The Bobcats bested Rhode Island in the sub-varsity race, totaling 23 points and finishing 41 ahead of the Rams.
