Sakoda Leads The Field, Bobcats Sit in Third After Day 1 at QU Classic

WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's golf sits in third place out of 11 teams after day one at the Quinnipiac Classic held at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford on Monday.
QU ended the first day of the tournament in third place among 11 teams after shooting 618 (+42) after the opening rounds at the classic. Sacred Heart leads after day one after carding 609 (+33) and Farleigh Dickinson sits behind them after shooting 614 (+38).
The Bobcats have three golfers placed within the top-20 after the first round, as Kaylee Sakoda sits in first place, Leeyen Peralta is tied for 13th and Fuge Zhang is tied for 20th. Sakoda shot a 144 (-2) in the opening rounds, while Peralta shot a 156 (+2) and Zhang carded a 159 (+7).
Aimee Uchida is tied for 40th after shooting a 164 (+8). Sandhya Vaikuntam rounded out the Quinnipiac grouping and is tied for 42nd after shooting a 165 (+14).
Emily Luu competed as an individual and is currently tied for 16th place (+6) after the first day. Meg Yoshida, Riley Carey and Elena Spangle also competed as individuals and finished out the day tied for 20th place, 55th place and 62nd, respectively.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct.11, when they close play at the Quinnipiac Classic.
