Bobcats Rising Senior Ranks Second in Summer League with 18 Stolen Bases
- NECBL UNVEILS 2021 ALL-STAR GAME ROSTERS
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Quinnipiac baseball rising senior Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) has been named to the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Southern Division All-Star Team, as announced by the league office on Sunday, July 11.
 
Maves was named as a reserve at second base after he has enjoyed an outstanding summer with the Ocean State Waves.
 
Maves is currently second in the NECBL with 18 stolen bases and ranks in the top 11 with 17 runs scored. He is batting .240 with the Waves along with a .343 on base percentage and has an OPS of .643. He has 18 hits with 17 runs scored, three doubles, four RBIs and 12 walks. He has only been caught stealing one time.
 
Over his last seven games heading into the All-Star announcement, Maves has hits in four of the seven games with three walks, five runs scored and five stolen bases.
 
In the 2021 season with Quinnipiac, Maves had a career-high .271 batting average with 16 hits, three doubles, nine runs scored, six RBIs and four stolen bases.
 
In his Quinnipiac career, Maves owns a .256 batting average with 60 hits, 10 doubles, 43 runs scored, 16 RBIs, 28 walks and 24 stolen bases.
 
Each All-Star team consists of nine slots for pitchers (starting pitcher, seven relievers, closer); a starter and two substitute catchers; a starter and substitute for the four remaining infield positions; a starter and substitute designated hitter; three starting outfielders and three reserve outfielders; and one Coach's Selection by each manager for a total of 29 players per squad.
 
The Newport Gulls will play host to the 2021 NECBL All-Star Game on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Cardines Field in Newport, Rhode Island. This is the fourth time the Gulls have hosted the NECBL All-Star Game (2005, 2010 & 2016). The All-Star Game showcases the NECBL's top talent in a fun-filled afternoon and evening of the best the league has to offer – with players from all NECBL franchises showcasing their skills in front of scouts from every Major League Baseball (MLB) organization.
 
Gates open at 2:00 p.m. and the exciting Home Run Derby kicks off the afternoon's festivities starting at 3:00 p.m. The All-Star Game itself will begin with pregame ceremonies at 4:40 p.m. A full itinerary can be found here.
 
Tickets are a flat general admission price of $8 and can be purchased in advance at 2021 ASG Tickets or at the gate.
