Softball to Host Monmouth Friday and Saturday

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team will host the Monmouth Hawks for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday, March 26-27. The Bobcats are coming off a 1-3 opening weekend on the road at Rider and will welcome the Hawks to Hamden for the first homer series of 2021.
The doubleheader scheduled for Sunday, March 28 has been moved up to be play on Friday, March 26 at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will be played as scheduled.

Last Time Out
Quinnipiac opened the 2021 season at Rider for a four-game conference series against Rider. The Bobcats went 1-3 on the weekend. Sophomore Katherine Rodriguez leads the team after the first four games with a .500 batting average, four runs, seven hits, on double and five RBIs. Rider won the last two games of the series by just one run in each game, and the second game went into extra innings after the Bobcats tied the game in the sixth.
Scouting Monmouth
The Hawks opened the 2021 season at home against Canisius and took away three wins of the four-game series. Katie Harrington leads the team with a .500 batting average. In the circle, Alyssa Irons posted a 2.00 ERA with a 3-0 record on the weekend after pitching 21.0 innings with 18 strikeouts. Monmouth will come to Hamden as the defending 2019 MAAC Tournament Champions. In 2020, the Hawks went 11-9 before the season was canceled.

First-year Julia Woeste and graduate student Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings pitched in all four games for the Bobcats over this past weekend. Kennedy-Cummings led the team with a 1-1 record on the weekend and pitched 8.2 innings with a 4.04 ERA and three strikeouts. Woeste pitched 17.1 innings with a 8.08 ERA and six strikeouts.
First-Years Fitting Right In
First-years Gianna Palmisano and Kayla Thomas had solid starts to their careers through the first MAAC series. Palmisano batted a .417 with four runs, five hits, two doubles and an RBI. Thomas tallied her first career home run and hit a .214 with three runs, three hits and four RBIs.
