Mackenzie DeWees Matches Career High in Points in the Victory
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team used a strong second half performance to take down the Monmouth Hawks, 68-54, on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats outscored the Hawks, 35-20, in the second half to take the victory.
Junior guard Mackenzie DeWees led the Bobcats offensively, matching her career high with 20 points. The Westminster, Md. native added five rebounds and a season-high five steals.
First-year forward Tiera White had a strong day off the bench for the Bobcats, recording eight points and three rebounds, both of which are career highs.

- Monmouth opened the game on a 6-2 run, but the Bobcats came back to tie the game at six with seven minutes left in the opening frame.
- The Bobcats opened up a five point lead, 13-8, but the Hawks closed the quarter on a 12-6 run to take a 20-19 advantage into the second quarter.
- Quinnipiac began the second quarter on an 11-3 run that last just under four minutes. That run gave them a 30-23 lead.
- The Hawks answered back with an 11-3 run of their own to close out the half. Monmouth used that run to take a 34-33 lead into the halftime break.
- The Bobcats scored the first four points of the third quarter, giving them a 37-34 lead.
- Monmouth was forced to call a timeout with Quinnipiac extending their lead to ten, 51-41, with just over a minute remaining in the third.
- The Hawks went on a 5-0 run out of the timeout to cut their deficit to six, 51-45 heading into the final frame.
- Quinnipiac outscored Monmouth 19-7 in the final quarter to take the victory, 68-54.
- The Bobcats converted 17 times from the free throw line, compared to just four for Monmouth.
- Quinnipiac outrebounded the Hawks, 46-37, including a 20-9 margin on the offensive glass.
- The Bobcats forced 22 Monmouth turnovers, converting those to 22 points.
- This is the second time this season that Mackenzie DeWees has reached the 20 point mark, also scoring 20 points against Marist.
- The Bobcats outscored the Hawks by ten in the paint, 34-24.
- The Bobcats conclude their weekend series with the Hawks, tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 7) at 2 p.m. from the People's United Center. The game can be seen on ESPN+.
