Three Bobcats Named to NEWISA All-New England Teams

HAMDEN, Conn. - The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association has announced the NCAA Division I 2021 NEWISA All-New England Teams, and three Bobcats were recognized for their play this season, as announced on Dec. 8.
Sophomore Rebecca Cooke, junior Markela Bejleri and senior Selena Salas all earned NEWISA All-New England honors. Cooke and Salas were named to the NEWISA All-New England Second Team and Bejleri was named to the All-New England Third Team.
Salas led the Bobcats with a career-high 29 points this season on eight goals and 13 assists. Cooke was second on the team with 28 points and a team-leading 13 goals. Bejleir had a stellar season in the center midfield with a career-high 14 points on five goals and four assists. The three Bobcats led the team to a program best 13-5-1 overall record and an appearance in the MAAC Championship game.
The NEWISA All-New England Teams are voted on by NCAA Division I coaches from collegiate institutions in New England. Fourty-one players were honored at the conclusion of the 2021 NCAA Divison I women's soccer season.
"The 2021 NEWISA All-New England Team honors the best student-athletes from colleges and universities throughout the region," said NEWISA President Tom McGuinness. "These players represent some of the most talented collegiate players in the country. They have driven their teams to great success on the field and deserve to be recognized for all their accomplishments. NEWISA congratulates them on their achievements this season."
