Bobcats to Play All MAAC Schedule, Host 20 Home Games in 2021
EDISON, N.J. – The Quinnipiac baseball team has announced its schedule for the 2021 season featuring 40 games against MAAC opponents with 20 games scheduled to be played at the Quinnipiac baseball field.
"Today's exciting with the announcement of your conference schedule," head coach John Delaney said. "Although it's very different than past years being one of the few conferences in the country to play 40 conference games makes this extremely unique. Every game will have an impact on our league this year which will bring a new and exciting competitiveness for our MAAC teams.
"It's been close to a year since our guys have been on the field competing and I think the excitement and energy to get back is at an all-time high. We can't wait to get back out there."
The schedule consists of nine, four-game weekend series beginning March 20 and culminating in the MAAC Championships from May 27-30. There is also one midweek series during the season with a single doubleheader in back-to-back weeks.
Opening day is slated for Saturday, March 20, in Hamden as the Bobcats will host the Monmouth Hawks in the first of back-to-back doubleheaders for the team's first game in over a year after the 2020 season was cancelled after a 7-5 win at Kennesaw State on March 11, 2020.
The Bobcats will hit the road for 10 consecutive games beginning with four-game series at Rider on March 27-28 and at Niagara on April 2-3. Quinnipiac will also head to Fairfield for a doubleheader on April 7 before returning home on April 10-11 for a series with Siena. The Bobcats will head back on the road on Wednesday, April 14, for a doubleheader at Fairfield to wrap up their four-game slate with the Stags.
The back-half of the schedule is home-friendly for the Bobcats as they will play back-to-back home series against Canisius on April 17-18 and Manhattan on May 1-2 with the bye-week sandwiched in between.
Quinnipiac hits the road to take on Iona on May 8-9 with the final home-series slated for May 15-16 with the Marist Red Foxes. The Bobcats wrap up the regular season at Saint Peter's on May 22-23.
The MAAC Tournament is scheduled for the final weekend of May from May 27-30 with the location of the tournament still to be determined.
