Bobcats Look to Build Momentum from Strong Series at Mississippi State
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team continues its eight-game, 11-day spring break trip around the South with a pair of midweek contests at Furman Tuesday night and Kennesaw State Wednesday as the Bobcats look to build off a strong series at Mississippi State.
Scouting Furman
Furman comes into Tuesday with an 8-8 record and have won two straight games against Campbell as part of a three-game series at home in Greenville, South Carolina. The Paladins have won three of their last four games. The Paladins are led by Jordan Starkes who boasts a .345 batting average with 20 hits, nine RBIs and nine runs scored while Dax Roper has a team-leading 13 runs scored and Banks Griffith has driven in 12 RBIs. Roper and Trent Alley are tied for the team-lead with two home runs. Probable started Matthew Marchal is 2-1 this season with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances and has five strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

Scouting Kennesaw State
The Owls enter the midweek slate with a 10-6 record on the season and have played well as of late as they have won six of their last seven games with a pair of wins vs. Penn, one at Jacksonville State and three against Brown. Nick Hassan leads Kennesaw State with a .415 batting average in 13 games as he has pounded out 17 hits and riven in 10 RBIs. Alex Carballo is batting .321 with seven extra-base hits, 17 RBIs and 17 runs scored to lead the Owls. As a team, Kennesaw State is batting .281. The pitching staff for the Owls has combined to post a 5.48 ERA and struck out 128 batters in 138 innings.

Quinnipiac battled in a three-game series at No. 12 Mississippi State but came up just short from picking up a win. The Bobcats fell 5-1 in the opening game of the series before falling 5-4 in game two. The Bobcats held a 4-1 lead but the Bulldogs came back and walked off in the ninth inning. Quinnipiac also held a lead in game three at Mississippi State, 3-2, but came up short in the final game, 8-4.
Kohn's on Fire
Michael Kohn has been on an absolute tear over the past two weeks as he has a six-game hitting streak with seven extra base hits in that span. Kohn went 4 for 10 at Mississippi State with three doubles and a home run along with three RBIs and three runs scored. Kohn recorded at least one hit in each of the three games.
