HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball's full 2020-21 schedule has been revealed, as announced on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.
The Bobcats are slated to play 24 games in total during the new season – four non-conference contests and 20 MAAC games. Non-league play will begin on Nov. 25, and Quinnipiac opens MAAC action on Dec. 18-19.
Non-Conference Schedule
A pair of home games to begin the new year highlight the Bobcats' non-conference schedule, which was released by Head Coach Baker Dunleavy and the program. The non-conference slate includes two contests at the People's United Center and two contests at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The Bobcats open up the 2020-21 season with two consecutive games in Hamden, squaring off against Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 25) and Maine (Nov. 29). Quinnipiac will then head to Mohegan Sun to participate in the 2020 Air Force Reserve Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, facing Drexel (Dec. 2) and Albany (Dec. 4) in the Springfield Bracket.
"Quinnipiac Basketball is excited to announce four tentative non-conference games," Quinnipiac men's basketball head coach Baker Dunleavy said. We're looking forward to opening up the 2020-21 season with a pair of home contests against Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 25) and Maine (Nov. 29). Our team is also fortunate to return to Mohegan Sun for another great basketball experience. All four of our non-league opponents are talented and well coached programs. This will provide us an opportunity for improvement leading into MAAC play.
"It has been a unique year to prepare for in many different ways. Our current focus is on putting forward the best effort we can each day. We've had a successful fall of training with our group, and we can't wait to see what we can accomplish this year."

The Bobcats host NEC foe Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, Nov. 25 to open the year. Quinnipiac and FDU matched up in non-conference play last season, as the Knights defeated the Bobcats, 78-77, on Dec. 3, 2019 in New Jersey. Returning guards Savion Lewis (14 points, six rebounds, five assists) and Matt Balanc (11 points, five rebounds) helped pace the Bobcats during the matchup at Rothman Center.
Quinnipiac will play its second consecutive home contest to open the new campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 29, squaring off with Maine. The Bobcats earned a double-digit victory, 81-61, during the meeting between the two program's last season at Cross Insurance Arena. Returning senior Jacob Rigoni helped pace the Quinnipiac offense with 15 points, going 5-for-10 from three-point range. Quinnipiac is 8-4 all-time against Maine, going 2-1 over the last three seasons.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame/Gazelle Group announced the updated schedule for "Bubbleville" at Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 12, 2020. Bubbleville will house several events relocated and reimagined due to COVID-19 and provides a controlled environment with teams and event staff adhering to tribal, government, and NCAA health and safety protocols and testing requirements. At this time, all games are expected to be played without fans in attendance. The event will feature 45 games in 11 days, showcasing 40 NCAA Division I men's and women's teams.
The Bobcats will compete in the Springfield Bracket of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament. It is the second time over the last three seasons that Quinnipiac has visited Mohegan Sun Arena, as the Bobcats squared off with Drexel at the Holiday Showcase on Dec. 16, 2018.
MAAC Schedule
The MAAC released its revised basketball schedule for 2020-21 on Monday, Nov. 16. After taking into consideration evolving COVID-19 testing, travel and venue standards, the league approved a Friday/Saturday playing schedule at the same venue for both games, with 24 hours of spacing between the two contests. The men's and women's schedules will mirror each other so that the women's program may be playing a team for a 2-game home series, with the men's program playing the same opponent on the road - and vice versa in subsequent weeks.
Teams have the weekend of Dec. 25-26 open for the holiday break, where non-conference games are permitted to be scheduled. In addition, the weekend of Feb. 22-27 remains open for all teams as an opportunity to make up any conference games due to COVID-19 disruptions.
Quinnipiac opens league action Dec. 18-19, hosting Manhattan on back-to-back nights at the People's United Center in Hamden. The Bobcats first road trip of the season is Jan 1-2, as the program will travel to Poughkeepsie to square off with Marist in a pair of games.
