HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball program and Head Coach Tom Pecora announced today (April 15, 2026) the addition of guard Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton.
Cunningham-Pemberton — a native of New London, Connecticut — will join the Bobcats after spending three seasons at Assumption University. The 6-foot-3 guard is one of the most decorated players in the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference, bringing a proven track record of two-way excellence to Hamden.
Cunningham-Pemberton's tenure at Assumption was defined by a steady trajectory toward becoming one of the most dominant two-way players in the region. A lockdown defender and versatile scorer, he led the Greyhounds with an impressive resume.
"We are thrilled to welcome Tayeshawn to the Bobcat family," said Head Coach Tom Pecora. "Being a local product from New London, he understands the basketball culture here in Connecticut. His ability to score at a high level while being an elite perimeter defender makes him a perfect fit for our system. We can't wait to get to work with Tayeshawn as we continue to compete for championships."
His breakout junior campaign in 2025-26 saw him evolve into an elite scoring threat, averaging 14.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, which solidified his place among the top 10 scorers in the NE10. Cunningham-Pemberton earned 2025 East Regional MVP honors for his efforts.
The New London native showed steady improvement throughout his collegiate career. As a sophomore in 2024-25, he posted 10.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, establishing himself as a reliable force on both ends of the floor before his breakout junior year.
Beyond his offensive production, Cunningham-Pemberton arrives in Hamden as a premier defensive disruptor. He finished this past season ranked in the Top 3 in the NE10 for steals, swiping 52 total balls over the course of the year.
This defensive tenacity has been a hallmark of his collegiate career; over three seasons at Assumption, he registered a staggering 118 total steals.
Cunningham-Pemberton is Quinnipiac's first addition to the roster heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
