HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team returned home after competing in the 2020 Friendship Series with the Merrimack Warriors in Belfast, N. Ireland. The teams played two games at SSE Arena on Jan. 4-5 as a part of the second Friendship Series; the first was played in 2019.
The Bobcats began the New Year on an Aer Lingus flight from New York City to Dublin, Ireland on Dec. 31. After flying for six hours, the team landed in Dublin and spent a majority of the day exploring the city and visiting the EPIC museum.

The team then made its way to the northeast corner of Northern Ireland to Belfast where the team would stay for a majority of the week.
Practice began on Thursday morning, which was followed by an excursion to The Giant's Causeway. About three miles from Bushmills, The Giant's Causeway is an area of 40,000 interlocking rock columns that were formed by an ancient volcanic fissure eruption.

After the Bobcats' second practice on Friday, the team went on a guided tour of the city; learning more about the Peace Walls, the Troubles that happened during the 1980s and the construction of the Titanic.
On Saturday, Jan. 4, the Bobcats took on the Merrimack Warriors of Hockey East. Quinnipiac came out on top with four different Bobcats scoring in the 4-2 win. The team stayed at SSE Arena to watch the Belfast Giants play later that night.
With an early start coming on Sunday, the team went back to the hotel after the game to prepare for Sunday's match. The second game against the Warriors began at 12 p.m. local time. The Bobcats cruised past the Warriors, 3-1, with sophomore Lexie Adzija recording three assists on each of the three goals.
Senior Kenzie Prater tallied one goal and two assists through two games. Senior Abbie Ives and redshirt freshman Logan Angers split the weekend. Ives recorded 17 saves, allowing two goals, and Angers had 18 saves, allowing just one.
Quinnipiac traveled back to Dublin on Saturday night to catch a flight back to New York Monday morning. The Bobcats are set to return to ECAC play this weekend to take on No. 9 Harvard and Dartmouth.
