CALGARY, Alberta – Senior Kati Tabin has been named to the BFL National Women's Development Team for Team Canada's Summer Showcase, as announced by Hockey Canada. The camp will take place in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park from Aug. 2-11.
"I am so grateful to have another opportunity to attend camp after getting the chance to go last summer as well," Tabin said. "I am excited to get to Calgary and learn from so many talented coaches throughout the week."
Eighty-nine of the Canada's top under-18 and development team talents were selected. Tabin, along with 44 other players, will attend the camp with the chance to be selected to play for Canada in a three-game series against the United States in Lake Placid, N.Y., Aug. 14-17. The Winnipeg native was also selected to attend the 2018-19 camp, as well.
The Development Team will be led by head coach Troy Ryan (Spryfield, N.S.), who won bronze with the team at the 2019 IIHF World Championships and silver at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Seven goaltenders, 13 defensemen and 25 forwards were selected to attend the development camp. The athletes will be split into two teams for practices, inter-squad games, off-ice training, fitness testing and classroom sessions.
Tabin is coming off a solid junior year after recording 13 points on four goals and nine assists to lead the Bobcats' defense, and she was ranked second on the team with 49 blocked shots.
