10 Baseball Players Competing in Summer Leagues

Bobcats Place Four in NECBL Following NCAA Tournament Run
HAMDEN, Conn. – After making an NCAA Tournament run, members of the Quinnipiac baseball team are still in action as 11 players are competing in wood-bat summer baseball leagues around the Northeast.
The Bobcats have four players competing in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), rated the second-best summer baseball league in the nation from the Summer Collegiate Baseball Register.
Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) was named to the honorable mention for the first week of NECBL play after batting .381 with three doubles, four runs, four RBIs and four walks.
Quinnipiac has two players competing in the Future's Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), with Kyle Maves Burlington, Ontario) playing for the Bristol Blues and Derek Goldrick (Weare, New Hampshire) playing for the Nashua Silver Knights. Goldrick has six strikeouts in two innings pitched so far this summer.
Derek Kasperzyk (Killingworth, Connecticut) is representing the Bobcats in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) with seven hits in seven games while Anthony Ambrosino (Howard Beach, New York) is competing with the New York Phenoms of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL).
Rounding out the Bobcats summer league players are Gabriel Romano (Wading River, New York) and Robert Lewis (Seaford, New York) in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL).
