Bongiovanni Tabbed ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month for February

Bobcats Freshman Earns First Career Rookie of the Month Award
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman forward Wyatt Bongiovanni has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month for February, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, March 5.
Bongiovanni's rookie of the month honors are the first of his career and he is Quinnipiac's second rookie of the month this season after Peter DiLiberatore (Bedford, Nova Scotia) took home the honors for December. Bongiovanni has been named the rookie of the week three times this season, including twice in February.
The Bobcats' rookie winger led all ECAC Hockey freshmen in February with six goals, 0.75 goals per game, nine points, 1.12 points per game, three power-play goals, three power-play assists, six power-play points, 41 shots on goal and an average of 5.12 shots on goal per game. He tallied points in four of eight games in the month in his spectacular offensive performance.
Bongiovanni recorded his first career hat trick and four-point game against St. Lawrence on Feb. 22, leading the Bobcats to a 7-2 victory over the Saints. His natural hat trick was the first hat trick by an ECAC Hockey rookie this season and just the third in the league, joining teammates Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) and Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) as the only ECAC Hockey players with hat tricks this season.
Overall, Bongiovanni now has 14 goals on the season along with nine assists for 23 points. His 14 goals are the most in ECAC Hockey and second-most in the nation. His 23 points are tied for third in ECAC Hockey while he leads the league's freshmen with six power-play goals and 99 shots on goal.
The Bobcats are 7-1-1 on the season when Bongiovanni scores a goal and 11-2-2 when he records a point.
Quinnipiac men's ice hockey returns to action in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals from March 15-17 after clinching the fourth Cleary Cup in program history and the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Bobcats await to find out their opponent following the first round series' this weekend, but game time on Friday, March 15 is set for 7 p.m.
