Bobcats Score Four Runs Early, Rams Chip Away and Score Winning Run in Ninth
Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI singles and also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch to reach base four times in Tuesday's game. Marrero extended his hitting streak to eight games with his two-hit game.
Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) and Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) each had a single and a double for the Bobcats to join Marrero with two-hit games.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 4-2 lead after four innings of play but the Rams chipped away with runs in the sixth and seventh before scoring the go-ahead run on a fielding error with two outs in the inning and the bases loaded

FIRST INNING
- Cruz doubled to left center with one out in the inning before Marrero followed him with an 0-2 single to right center field for his first RBI single of the game
- After the Rams took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the inning, Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) doubled down the left field line with one out before he moved up to third on a bunt single from Cruz
- With runners on the corners, Marrero punched another single through the right side of the infield to score Maves and keep runners on the corners
- Derek Kasperzyk (Killingworth, Connecticut) stepped in after entering the game as defensive replacement and laid down a safety squeeze the got past the pitcher and her reached safely with a single that scored Cruz
- The Bobcats tacked on another run with one out in the bottom of the fourth as Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) reached second as Rhode Island's leftfielder dropped a fly ball
- On the very next pitch, freshman Michael Kohn (Rockville, Maryland) laced a single to right field that scored Scafariello from second base.
- Marrero extended his hitting streak to eight games with his 2 for 3 day and raised his batting average to .329 on the season
- Marrero also had a pair of RBIs, his fifth straight game with an RBI, and now leads the team with 16 and is tied for fifth in the MAAC
- Over his eight-game hitting streak, Marrero is 11 for 27 (.407)
- Cruz has two hits in each of his last two games while he's hit safely in seven of his 10 games this season to boost his batting average to .326
- Moskey had two hits in a 2 for 4 day at the plate, including his 37th career double to move into 10th in Division I program history
- Blake DeCarr (Foxboro, Massachusetts) was solid in his first start of the season, striking out six batters in six innings of work and limited the Rams to just three runs
- DeCarr struck out the side in the top of the fifth inning on just 11 pitches, and now has 14 strikeouts in three appearances spanning 12.1 innings
- Maves came around to score his 14th run of the season, and has now scored a run in seven straight games as he has now hit safely in four straight games
- Kohn recorded his second hit and drove in his second RBI of the season with an RBI single Tuesday
- Quinnipiac returns to action with the second midweek game of the week on Wednesday as the Bobcats host Dartmouth at 3 p.m.
