
Bobcats Late Surge Not Enough in MAAC Opener

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Quinnipiac women's lacrosse scored the final three goals of the game on Saturday, as the Bobcats' late comeback fell just short in the 2019 MAAC opener at Marist.
Gabby Beckett, Sophie Spencer and Victoria Bobinski all scored with under six minutes left, cutting the deficit from four goals to just one at the end of regulation.
Beckett and Megan Szawlowski led Quinnipiac's offense with two goals each, while Sophie Spencer chipped in with one goal and one assist.

- Marist outshot the Bobcats 29-22 in total, but shots were even in the second half at 14-14.
- Quinnipiac won nine of 19 draw controls, and picked up 18 ground balls.
- The Bobcats scored the final three goals of the game, including a Bobinski score with just seven seconds remaining. Quinnipiac recorded four of the final six goals over the last 10:14.
- Junior Allie Kelsey made a season-best 12 stops in front of the cage for the Bobcats
- Quinnipiac had seven different goal scorers in the MAAC contest, which ranks tied for the second-most amount of single-game scorers the Bobcats have had this year. The Bobcats had 13 diifferent goal scorers in a win over Hartford on March 6.
- Gabby Beckett's two-goal contest is her first of the season. She now has four total goals in 2019.
- With two more scores, Megan Szawlowski has now recorded 18 goals and nine assists for 27 points, which ranks second on the team.
- Shannon Savage, Sophie Spencer, Allison Kuhn, Victoria Bobinski, and Kayla Moreau all added a goal for Quinnipiac – who scored six of its nine goals in the second stanza.
- The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday, March 27, hosting Fairfield in their first home conference contest of the 2019 season.
