Bobcats Left-Hander Takes Perfect Game Into Sixth Inning in First Win of Season
NORFOLK, Va. – Chris Enns (Canton, Connecticut) took a perfect game into the sixth inning Saturday afternoon before finishing the game with 10 strikeouts as the Quinnipiac baseball team downed the Norfolk State Spartans, 7-1.
Enns' 10 strikeouts are the most he has recorded in a career, surpassing his previous career best of seven from his junior season in 2017. He also took a perfect game into the sixth inning for the first time in his collegiate career as he finished the game with just two hits allowed.
Throughout his seven innings on the mound, Enns was masterful as he struck out the side in the bottom of the second inning and five straight batters from the second into the third inning. Enns also struck out the side in the seventh inning to close out his performance with his 10 strikeouts.
Samuel LaChance (Dover, New Hampshire) finished the game with two hits, including an RBI double, as well as a walk and a run scored while Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts) went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.
Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) also recorded a two-RBI single that got the scoring started for the Bobcats in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead.

- LaChance singled through the left side with one out before moving up to second on a bunt single from Huscher
- Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) singled to load the bases with one out
- After a Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) fly out, Lutz singled through the left side to score LaChance and Huscher before Ostberg was thrown out trying to advance to third
FIFTH INNING
- Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) reached on a throwing error with one out in the inning before Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) walked and Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) singled to load the bases.
- LaChance reached on a fielder's choice that scored Marrero before Moskey came home to score on an error allowing Huscher to reach base
SIXTH INNING
- Moskey and Bender reached on back-to-back errors by the Spartans' shortstop and the pair got into scoring position on a double steal
- Following a LaChance walk to load the bases, everyone advanced a base and Moskey scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-1
- Huscher then reached base on a fielder's choice that scored Bender to make it 6-1
NINTH INNING
- Quinnipiac wrapped up the scoring in the ninth after Marrero reached on another error by Norfolk State's shortstop and advanced to second on a wild pitch
- Moskey singled to left field to put runners on the corners before Marrero came home to score on an RBI groundout from Bender.
- Enns made one of the best starts of his career as he struck out a career-high 10 batters over seven innings of work
- Enns' took a perfect game into the sixth inning, Quinnipiac's longest perfect-game bid since Thomas Jankins took a perfect game into the seventh and a no-hitter into the eight on April 16, 2016 against Iona
- Ostberg extended his hitting streak to a career-best seven games on the season with a single
- LaChance has recorded hits in all three of his appearances this season and tallied RBIs and doubles in his last two
- Huscher recorded multiple hits for a third time this season and second straight game and now has hits in four of his last six games
- Marrero came around to score a season-high two runs and now has scored in three straight games
- Moskey extended his hitting streak to six games with a single Saturday while he scored two runs for a second consecutive game

UPCOMING GAME
- The final game of the weekend series originally scheduled for Sunday at Noon has been cancelled due to the anticipated weather in the area.
- Quinnipiac now returns to action on Friday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. as the Bobcats begin a three-game series at Florida Gulf Coast.
