
Ostberg Hits Ninth Inning Home Run in Loss vs. Bryant

Bobcats Fall in Saturday Action at the Spider Invitational, 5-2
RICHMOND, Va. – Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) hit his first career home run in the ninth inning Saturday but the Quinnipiac baseball team could not pull off another ninth inning comeback in a 5-2 loss to the Bryant Bulldogs at the Spider Invitational.
The Bobcats trailed by five runs heading into the bottom of the ninth inning before Ostberg lifted his home run over the right field fence after Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) singled to lead off the inning.
Ostberg's home run was his lone hit of the game while Vulgamore led the Bobcats as he reached base three times with a double, single and a walk. Vulgamore also stole a base for his third steal of the season.
Despite taking the loss, Chris Enns pitched seven innings in Saturday's showdown with the Bulldogs as he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with no walks. Enns also struck out five batters.

- After Bryant took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bobcats added a pair of runs to try to and mount another late-inning comeback.
- Vulgamore singled through the left side of the infield to put a runner on base
- After a strikeout, Ostberg pulled a home run over the right field fence to cut the lead to three runs but that's all the Bobcats could manage
- Ostberg hit his first career home run just one day after Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) hit the first of his career
- He now has four hits over the last two games to put his batting average at .291 on the season
- Vulgamore extended his hitting streak to four games and has hits in eight of the last nine games after his two-hit day
- He leads the team with 19 hits, 14 runs scored, 11 RBIs and eight doubles after Saturday
