CALGARY, Alberta – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey sophomore defenseman Peter DiLiberatore (Bedford, Nova Scotia) has been invited to Hockey Canada's National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp, as announced by Hockey Canada on Monday, December 2, 2019.
DiLiberatore is one of four NCAA Men's College Hockey players and 31 players overall invited to the selection scheduled for Dec. 9-12 in Oakville, Ontario. Next week's selection camp is the final camp to compete for a chance to represent Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic, from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.
The camp will take place at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex and will feature two games against a team of U Sports All-Stars on Dec. 11-12.
DiLiberatore is the first Quinnipiac player invited to Hockey Canada's National Junior Team Selection camp after he was the first invited to the World Junior Summer Showcase over the summer.
If selected for the team, DiLiberatore would be the second Bobcat to compete at World Juniors after Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) suited up for Latvia at the 2017 World Junior Championships during his freshman season. Brandon Fortunato '19 also competed at the World Junior Championships for the United States in 2016 before transferring to Quinnipiac from Boston University.
DiLiberatore is in his second season with the Bobcats and has had a solid follow up to his first season in 2018-19. He has tallied two goals and five assists for seven points in all 15 games this season, with both goals coming on the power play this season. DiLiberatore opened the season with a career-best six-game point streak.
In his career, DiLiberatore has five goals and 21 assists for 26 points in 53 career games for the Bobcats after a 19-point season in 2018-19. He was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie team after leading ECAC Hockey with a +22 plus/minus rating and was a finalist for the league's rookie of the year award.
The Bobcats are off from game action until Dec. 28 when they take on Princeton in a return to ECAC Hockey play. For more information on the men's ice hockey team, visit gobobcats.com/mih and follow the team on Twitter and Instagram, @QU_MIH.
