
Samoskevich, Tabin Named to National Development Teams

Bobcats Set to Compete Against Each Other at United States vs. Canada Three-Game Series

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey rising senior Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) has been named to the United States U-22 National Select Team and rising junior Kati Tabin (Winnipeg, Manitoba) has been named to the Canada National Development Team, as announced by each governing body on Sunday.
The United States and Canada will meet in a three-game series at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Alberta from August 16-19.
Quinnipiac assistant coach Amanda Mazzotta will also be at the three-game series as she is Canada's goaltending consultant.
Samoskevich earned her third consecutive selection to the U-22 national women's select team while Tabin's is her first for Canada. Both players were selected to their national development teams after weeklong training festival.
Samoskevich is entering her senior year at Quinnipiac with 86 points on 41 goals and 45 assists in 110 career games. With 14 points this season, Samoskevich would become the seventh player in program history to record 100 points. She led Quinnipiac in points in each of the past two seasons with 25 in 2017-18 and 29 in 2016-17.
Last season, Samoskevich led the Bobcats with 15 goals and 25 points while her 10 assists ranked third on the team. She was even better in conference play, recording 12 goals, including all four of her power-play goals and all five game-winning goals, and 19 points.
Tabin wrapped up her sophomore season in 2017-18 with her best season since joining the Bobcats. She netted three goals with 11 assists for 14 points as she played in all 36 games. Tabin also finished second on the team with 47 blocked shots.
