ERIE, Pennsylvania — The No. 3-seeded Quinnipiac Acrobatics & Tumbling team defeated the No. 2 Azusa Pacific Cougars 275.450-274.105 on Friday to advance to the NCATA National Championship for the second time in program history.

Compulsory
Azusa Pacific earned an early lead after the Compulsory Event, despite the Bobcats holding the best individual heat score of 9.950 in the Toss Heat (Alyssa O'Connor, Samantha Gormley, Jenna Adams, Allie Williams, Nicole Chamberlain, Melanie Mancini, Camren Diaz, Siobhan Robinson, Alexandria Barnes, Brinkley Welty and Grace Manthey). The Cougars took a 37.675-37.475 lead into the Acro event.
Acro
Quinnipiac overtook the lead after the Acro Event, sweeping all three heats for an event total of 29.375-29.150. The Bobcats were led by a six-element heat score of 9.850 performed by Abby Ziser, Siobhan Robinson, Alexandria Barnes, Allie Williams and Erin Redding. After the two events, Quinnipiac led 66.850-66.825.
Pyramid
The back-and-forth semifinal meet continued in the Pyramid Event, as the Cougars won two heats and tied the other to win the event 29.35-28.55. Thanks to the Pyramid Event, the No. 2-seeded Cougars carried a 96-175-95.400 lead into halftime.
Toss
Halftime was well-timed for Quinnipiac, as they came out of the break and earned a much-needed victory in the Toss Event. Despite losing the first two heats of the event, the Bobcats (Melanie Mancini, Jenna Adams, Camren Diaz, Allie Williams, Brinkley Welty and Erin Redding) dominated the Open Heat with a 9.950-9.575 win. However, the Cougars still had an overall lead of 124.850-124.200 after four events.
Tumbling
Quinnipiac's road to victory did not get any easier with the Tumbling Event, as the Cougars picked up four heat victories, won the event, 56.125-56.050, and took a 180.975-180.25 advantage into the Team Event.
Team
Quinnipiac was victorious in the Team Event, 95.200-93.130 — just enough to give them the edge in the meet and advance them to their second NCATA National Championship meet.

Quinnipiac will face top-seeded Baylor on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the NCATA National Championship. It will be Baylor's fourth straight appearance in the title meet, while the Bobcats return for the second time in program history.
