- The Bobcats found themselves down early after allowing four runs (two earned) in the bottom of the first.
- Senior Anthony Cruz would start to chip away at the lead when he hit a single that drove home Liam Scafariello in the top of the next frame.
- Quinnipiac would even the score in the top of the third inning.
- Sophomores Dylan Lutz and Evan Vulgamore led off the inning with a pair of singles, and would advance into scoring position via a fielder's choice by junior Brian Moskey.
- Senior Julius Saporito would send home Lutz with a sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 4-2.
- Junior Liam Scafariello would step to the plate next and blast his first home run of the season to tie the game at 4.
- Scafariello became the sixth Quinnipiac hitter with a home run this year.
- The Bobcats would put up another three runs in the top of the fourth inning.
- With one out in the inning, sophomores Andre Marrero and Dylan Lutz would each hit singles.
- Evan Vulgamore smacked a double down the left field line to score his classmates, giving Quinnipiac their first lead of the contest, 6-4.
- Brian Moskey would soon add to that lead with a single that brought in Vulgamore.
- Anthony Cruz would add an insurance run in the top of the ninth with an RBI triple that brought home Ben Gibson.
- Senior Taylor Luciani got the start on the hill for the Bobcats, going five innings and allowing four runs (two earned). He collected five strikeouts and gave up five hits.
- Senior Wyatt Hamilton was the first reliever for Quinnipiac, throwing two innings and allowing a run. He notched a pair of strikeouts and allowed four hits.
- Senior Mike Davis closed the door on the Monarchs, picking up a six-out save. This is Davis' first save of the 2018 season. He worked out of trouble in both the eighth and ninth innings to secure the victory for the Bobcats.
- This was the fifth game of the season that Quinnipiac scored a run in the final frame. The Bobcats are 4-1 this season when they do so.
- The Bobcats batted .400 (6-for-15) with two outs and .308 (4-for-13) with runners in scoring position.
- Evan Vulgamore led the way with three hits on the afternoon. Four others had multi-hit games: Cruz, Lutz, Moskey, and Scafariello.
The Bobcats will finish their series with the Monarchs tomorrow, as they will now play a doubleheader to avoid inclimate weather on Sunday. Game 1 of the doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m., with the second game to start shortly after the conclusion of the first.
