QU Women's Ice Hockey Rolls to 4-1 Victory Over Brown, Clinches 5th Seed in ECAC Tournament

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team rolled to a 4-1 victory over the Brown University Bears on Friday night at the Meehan Auditorium. Grace Markey scored her first career goal for Quinnipiac for the game-winner. Kati Tabin, Melissa Samoskevich, and Kenzie Prater also lit the lamp for the Bobcats. Allison Small got the victory.
With the victory, the Bobcats clinch the 5th seed in the ECAC tournament, which is set to begin on February 23. Quinnipiac will travel up to North Country to take on St. Lawrence in the ECAC Quarterfinals.

- 17:40 1st Period (BRWN 1-0): Katie Swanstrom sent home a one-timer from the front of the slot after a pass from behind the net Samantha Swanstrom. Abby Niewchas also picked up an assist.
- 3:04 2nd Period (Tied 1-1): Kati Tabin blasted a slapshot to the top shelf from the point off passes from Randi Marcon and Anna Kilponen.
- 10:35 2nd Period (QU 2-1): Grace Markey sent a shot towards the net that was deflected by a Brown stick and found the twine. Alicia Barry recorded an assist on the play.
- 3:14 3rd Period (QU 3-1): Melissa Samoskevich found the back of the net with a wrist shot from in close following a passes from Alicia Barry and Renee Saltness.
- 19:02 3rd Period (QU 4-1): Kenzie Prater scored an empty-netter from the neutral zone.
- Freshman Grace Markey (West Bloomfield, Michigan) netted her first collegiate goal for the game-winner just over halfway through the second period.
- Sophomore Kati Tabin (Winnipeg, Manitoba) scored her third goal of the season in the second period.
- Tabin leads all Bobcat defensemen with 14 points on the season.
- Junior captain Melissa Samoskeivch (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) planted her team leading 14th goal of the year.
- Samoskevich also expanded her team lead in points. She now has 23.
- Sophomore Kenzie Prater (Hudson, Wisconsin) found the back of the net for the fourth time this season.
- Senior captain Alicia Barry (Hanson, Massachusetts) picked up her fifth and sixth helpers of the season, registering her first multi-point game of the season.
- Juniors Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Anna Kilponen (Orivesi, Finland) tallied their sixth assists of the year.
- Freshman Renee Saltness (Rochester, Minnesota) recorded her first collegiate point with an assist on Samoskevich's goal.
- Freshman Allison Small (Nestleton, Ontario) picked up her first win in ECAC action and second win of the season.
- With this victory, the Bobcats have clinched the 5th seed in the ECAC tournament.
- Quinnipiac has now won three straight road games.
- Head Coach Cassandra Turner remains undefeated against her alma mater. She now holds a 6-0-0 record against Brown.
