
Eamon Whelan Selected to Google Cloud Academic All-District® First Team

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac men's soccer junior Eamon Whelan (New Fairfield, Conn.) has been selected as a 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Soccer honoree, as announced by CoSIDA on Thursday afternoon.
Whelan was tabbed a District 1 First Team student-athlete, becoming the second Quinnipiac men's soccer player to earn the honor in as many years. Max Rothenbuecher (Munich, Germany) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 First Team in 2017. Tobias Esche is also a two-time honoree for the Bobcats, including 2014-15 when he was selected as an Academic All-American.
The forward was the unanimous choice for the league's Offensive Player of the Year award, and is Quinnipiac's first MAAC Offensive Player of the Year since the Bobcats joined the league in 2013. Whelan currently leads the MAAC in points (30), points per game (1.76), goals (13), and goals per game (0.76). The two-time MAAC Offensive Player of the Week in 2018 was also selected to the All-MAAC First Team.
