HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer continued its conference success on Wednesday afternoon, cruising past Niagara, 3-0, from the Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium.

With the win, the Bobcats improve to 6-1-1 in MAAC play, moving into a tie with Fairfield for first place in the conference standings (19 points). Fairfield is set to square off with Marist tonight at 7:00 p.m.

SCORING SUMMARY
· 5:26 (Quinnipiac 1, Niagara 0) Quinnipiac got on the board less than 10 minutes into action, as Oriac Vila Rotxes (Navas, Spain) tallied his second career goal to make it 1-0. Evan Hughes (Famington, Conn.) sent a perfect pass into the box toward Vila Rotxes, who blasted a one-timer into the back of the net.
· 48:00 (Quinnipiac 2, Niagara 0): Eamon Whelan (New Fairfield, Conn.) scored three minutes into the second half of action to extend the Bobcats' advantage, recording his team-leading 11^th goal of the year. Rashawn Dally (Bloomfield, Conn.) earned his fifth assist of the year on the play, which is also a team high. Dally blasted a shot on goal, then Whelan located the save and tapped it in to the back of the net.
· 50:20 (Quinnipiac 3, Niagara 0): The Bobcats then scored just over two minutes later, as Salah Oumorou (West Haven, Conn.) earned his first goal of the season. Whelan played the ball in to Oumorou, who juked the charging goalkeeper and tapped the ball in to make it 3-0.

NOTES

Quinnipiac outshot Niagara 13-11, and the Bobcats attempted three corner kicks in the victory.
Jared Mazzola (Kahtonah, N.Y.) made three more saves for the Bobcats, earning his second shutout of 2018. Mazzola now has an 0.836 save percentage and a 0.87 goals-against average so far this season.
Vila Rotxes' goal was his second of the season, his first since his game-winner vs. Albany on Sept. 15.
With one goal and one assist in the win, Whelan raises his conference-high totals in both points (24) and goals (11).
Oumorou's goal is his first collegiate score. He's played in all 15 games for the Bobcats, starting three times in 2018.
Quinnipiac has now won eight of its last 10 contests, outscoring opponents 19-8 in that span.
The Bobcats have scored multiple goals in eight of 15 games this season.
