BACK ONCE AGAIN
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team heads into the 2017 MAAC Men's Tennis Tournament for the third consecutive season. This year, the Bobcats are the No. 3 seed where they will face the No. 2 seed Marist Red Foxes in a rematch of last year's semifinals, with the winner meeting the winner of the No. 1 seed Monmouth Hawks and No. 4 seed Fairfield Stags in the MAAC Championship.
HISTORY VS MARIST
The Bobcats are 1-5 against Marist all-time, with the lone win coming in the 2016 MAAC Men's Tennis Tournament, where Quinnipiac defeated the Red Foxes,4-1 in the semifinals. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) won two matches in the duel.
The last time Quinnipiac took on Marist, they lost 4-3 on the road. Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) earned two victories on the day and Ezaka earned the 138th win of his career in the duel, marking him as the program's all-time leader in career wins.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
Marist owns a 13-3 record and a 4-1 record in the MAAC coming into the tournament. The Red Foxes come into the match on a hot streak, having won 11 of their last 12 matches.
HISTORY VS MONMOUTH
Quinnipiac is 15-6 against Monmouth all-time, having lost the previous two times against them, including last year's MAAC Championship match, 4-3. Rozenstein recorded two wins in the loss.
Quinnipiac took on Monmouth in its regular season finale this year as well and lost to the Hawks, 5-2 on the road. Ezaka and Rozenstein were the only Bobcats to earn wins on the day.

The Hawks come into the tournament as the defending champions and No. 1 seed after finishing 7-0 in MAAC competition. Monmouth finished the season on a four-game winning-streak, including wins over previously unbeaten in conference play, MAAC rival Marist, as well as Quinnipiac.

Quinnipiac is 4-4 all-time against Fairfield. The last time the Bobcats took on the Stags, Quinnipiac won 6-1 in its home finale at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts. Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California), Axel Stern (Tustin, California), Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York), Rozenstein and Ezaka all earned two victories on the day.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
The Stags come into the tournament as the No. 4 seed with a 4-3 MAAC record. Fairfield went 4-6 in its last 10 duels, but swept Siena 7-0 in its last contest.

Ezaka set the program-record for career wins after his doubles victory with partner Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) against Marist. Ezaka currently has 143 career wins, which is six more than previous record-holder John Hughes 10'. Ezaka has 71 singles wins, which is second all-time and 72 doubles wins, which is third all-time in program history.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quinnipiac men's tennis senior Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) was named the MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday, April 26.
Ezaka's player of the week honors are the third of his career, and he is the second Quinnipiac men's tennis player to be honored with a weekly award this season as Axel Stern (Tustin, California) earned the award earlier this season.
Ezaka won three matches this past week with two coming from the No. 1 singles spot as well as a doubles win. Ezaka went 2-0 against No. 4 seed Fairfield, winning the No. 2 doubles match with partner Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) over Tyler Shibles and Dylan Appel, 6-4 to clinch the doubles point against the Stags. Ezaka later on defeated Brad Orban in the No. 1 singles match in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-6 (4).
Ezaka's biggest win came over Nicola Pipoli of No. 1 seed Monmouth, in the No. 1 singles match on Sunday in three sets. Ezaka took the first set 7-6 (4), then narrowly fell in the second set 5-7. However Ezaka returned to win the third set and match, 10-4. Coming into the match, Pipoli was undefeated in MAAC play before falling to Ezaka.
KEEPING IT 100
Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) earned two victories against Fairfield, but his win in doubles gave him 100 wins for his career. As it stands, Rozenstein has 102 career wins, with 60 singles wins and 42 doubles wins.
MAAC MANIA
In the Bobcats' seven MAAC dual matches, they have gone 50-13 in competition. The team has posted a 33-9 record in singles play against MAAC opponents and 17-4 in doubles competition.
ALL GOOD FROM SPOT ONE
The Bobcats have had major success from the No. 1 spot in doubles matches, going 14-5 in those matches.
THE 10 CLUB
Six Bobcats have already reached at least 10 singles wins on the season as Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Ezaka leads the team with 16 wins. Stern has 13 wins, Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) has 11 and both Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, California) and Austin Yannone (Severna Park, Maryland) have 10 wins on the season.
