QU Women’s Lacrosse Falls to MAAC-Leading Canisius

BUFFALO, New York – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team was dealt a 22-4 loss on Saturday afternoon to MAAC power Canisius from the Demske Sports Complex.
Quinnipiac falls to 3-11 overall and 2-4 in MAAC play with the loss while the Golden Griffins up their win streak to eight in-a-row while improving their overall mark to 11-3 on the season with a 6-0 record in conference.
Julia Corrice (Sparta, New Jersey), Allison Kuhn (Kingsville, Maryland), Emily Byrne (Huntington, New York) and Kelsey Mumford (Bow, New Hampshire) scored for the Bobcats while Amy Hauser (East Northport, New York), Ashley Bobinski (Kinnelon, New Jersey), Alex Hlesciak (Lumberton, New Jersey) and Kuhn dished out one assist each to account for the Quinnipiac scoring.
In a match dominated by the reigning MAAC Champion Canisius, the Bobcats managed to score the first goal of the game as Corrice punched home the opening tally off a great Bobsinki feed from behind the cage.
Canisius followed with an 11-0 run that extended into a 20-1 margin over the ensuing 30+ minutes of play before ultimately closing out the victory.
Erica Evans, the nation's 10th-highest scoring individual, accounted for six points (four goals, two assists) for the Golden Griffins while Lauren Smolensky dished out seven assists.
Kyle Larkin (Brightwaters, New York) made seven stops in the cage for the Bobcats while Kiera Kelly (West Islip, New York) tallied a team-leading three ground balls to pace the defensive effort.
Quinnipiac heads into their final week of the regular season with a crucial Wednesday night match against Siena. A win over the Saints (0-5 MAAC) will greatly increase the Bobcats' odds of qualifying for the MAAC Tournament for the first time in program history.
