
QU Men's Ice Hockey's Andrew Shortridge Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman goalie Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week for the second-consecutive week, as announced by the league office on Thursday, Mar. 9.
Shortridge became the fourth Quinnipiac freshman goalie, and first since 2006, to start a game for the Bobcats. In a ECAC Hockey Championship Series sweep of Brown, Shortridge posted a 2-0 record with a .956 save percentage and a league-leading 1.00 GAA. On Friday night, Shortridge stopped 19 of Brown's 20 shots on goal in a 6-1 win before following with a 24-save outing in a 5-1 win on Saturday. Shortridge has now won five-straight starts and six of his last seven.

• Shortridge enters the weekend at 11-5-0 with a .919 save percentage and a 2.03 goals-against average.
• In 14 ECAC Hockey appearances, including nine starts, Shortridge is 7-2-0 with a .934 save percentage and a 1.74 goals against average.
• In seven starts at High Point Solutions Arena, Shortridge is 7-2-0 with a .924 save percentage and a 1.88 GAA.
• Among all NCAA Division I goalies since Dec. 28, 2016, Shortridge ranks 7th in winning percentage (.750, 9-3-0), 8th in save percentage (.931) and 5th in goals-against average (1.77).
• Among ECAC Hockey goalies, only Harvard's Merrick Madsen has a better winning percentage, leaving Shortridge as the conference leader in the other two categories.
• For the month of February, Andrew Shortridge led all ECAC Hockey goalies with a 1.78 GAA while going 4-1-0 with a .924 save percentage.
• Shortridge was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017.
Also nominated for a weekly award was junior Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, Alberta). In a ECAC Hockey Championship First Round Series sweep of Brown, MacMaster led Quinnipiac with five points, on the strength of a goal and four assists. MacMaster was the only Bobcat and one of five ECAC Hockey players with a pair of multiple-point games. On Friday night, MacMaster had two assists in a 6-1 win before scoring once and assisting on two more goals in a 5-1 series-clinching victory on Saturday night.

• Tanner MacMaster has had a quiet, yet rock solid third season with the Bobcats, scoring eight goals to go with 11 assists for 19 points in 28 games played.
