Samoskevich's Hat Trick Lifts QU Women's Hockey to 4-3 OT Victory over Union

Hamden, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team came from behind to defeat Union Friday night, 4-3, backed by a hat trick by Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut). The captain netted the game-winning goal just 61 seconds into overtime to give the Bobcats the win.
Samoskevich's game-winner came after Taylor House (Joliet, Illinois) scored with 1.8 seconds remaining to tie the game at three.

? 11:47 1ST PERIOD (UC 1-0): Union struck first, taking a 1-0 lead when Sierra Lee retrieved a pass from Helen Markovic and made a nice finish for her first goal of the season.
? 10:33 2ND PERIOD (TIED 1-1): Quinnipiac tied up the game with a little more than nine minutes remaining in the second period when their captain, Melissa Samoskevich retrieved a pass from Kati Tabin on the half-wall, made a move, and tucked one past Francis for the Bobcats' first goal of the game. Kenzie Lancaster picked up her fifth assist of the season on the play.
? 19:55 2ND PERIOD (UC 2-1): Union took back the lead with just five seconds remaining in the middle period when Katelynn Russ scored her fifth goal of the season on a breakaway to send Union into the second intermission with the lead,2-1.
? 6:15 3RD PERIOD (UC 3-1): The Bobcats tied the game while on the man-advantage with TIME remaining in the third stanza when Samoskevich connected with her second goal of the game. The captain gathered the puck at the face-off dot and fired a one-time past Francis for her third goal of the season.
? 10:07 3RD PERIOD (UC 3-2): Union regained the lead with TIME remaining in the final period when they found themselves on a three-on-one advantage. Siera Lee netted her second of the game to put Union back in the lead, 3-2.
? 19:58 3RD PERIOD (TIED 3-3): Quinnipiac tied the game in dramatic fashion when Kenie Lancaster retrieved a puck from Kate Mackenzie and skated around the back of the net, dishing the puck to Taylor House who found the top shelf to tie the game at 3 with 1.8 seconds remaining in the game.
? 1:01 OT (QU 4-3): Samoskevich netted her third goal of the game to send the Bobcats home victorious after she retrieved a pass Raquel Pennoyer and skated into the slot, wristing one past Francis before being mobbed by her teammates against the glass.
