Tommy Consalvo Leads the Way, Placing 47th Overall in the Prestigious Meet
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Competing in the prestigious Pre-National Invitational for the second straight season, the Quinnipiac men's cross country team claimed 17th place out of 24 teams on Saturday afternoon in the Men's Black 6k event from the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. Tommy Consalvo (Brookfield, Connecticut) led the way, placing 47th overall and first on the team for the second time this season.

Quinnipiac's last tune-up before the MAAC Championships is slated for Friday, October 20 as the Bobcats head to New Britain for the CCSU Mini Meet. The Bobcats will also hold Senior Day festivities following the meet.

- Quinnipiac competed against several high-major programs including Ohio State, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Louisville and Georgetown while the Bobcats also placed ahead of Boston College in the meet
- The Bobcats totaled 404 team points as the top five finishers on the day scored for Quinnipiac
- This marked the second straight season the Bobcats competed in the prestigious meet that serves as a tune-up for programs all across the nation that want a preview meet for the host course of the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships
- Quinnipiac finished 17th out of 20 teams in the 2016 Pre-National Invitational
- Consalvo placed first on the team for the second time this season and in his career, as he also led the Bobcats' at the 2017 Stony Brook Season Opener
- Ryan Ansel (Danbury, Connecticut) continues to show well as the junior picked up a Top 100 finish in his first time competing in the event
- Michael Kiernan (Warwick, Rhode Island) moved up from his 112th place finish in last year's Pre-National Invitational, improving 22 spots to place 90th this afternoon
