MAAC TOURNAMENT
The No. 6 Quinnipiac softball team will take on the No. 3 Canisius College Golden Griffins in their first ever MAAC Tournament on Wednesday, May 11. The Bobcats will travel to Poughkeepsie, New York this week for the double elimination tournament, beginning with Wednesday's contest at 11 a.m.
QUINNIPIAC AGAINST THE FIELD
The Bobcats won seven of their last 10 conferences games during the regular season including consecutive doubleheader sweeps to end the year. Quinnipiac finished 11-9 in conference action, their best record since going 13-7 in the NEC during the 2012 season.
The Golden Griffins enter the MAAC tournament as the No. 3 overall seed with a 13-7 conference record and at 22-30 overall. Canisius and Monmouth both finished with the same conference record but the Golden Griffins owned the tiebreaker after sweeping the Hawks earlier in the season. In the final weekend of the regular season, Canisius finished 2-2 after splitting doubleheaders with both the Bobcats and Marist. Quinnipiac took the first game, 2-1, ending the Golden Griffins' four-game winning streak with a walk-off win. In the second contest, the Bobcats led 1-0 until Canisius rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh. The Golden Griffins are second in the MAAC with a .332 conference batting average while Lindsey Silfer leads the MAAC in hitting at .544 (37-for-68). Silfer has 16 RBI's, nine doubles, 11 runs scored and one home run in 20 conference games. Starting pitcher Madi Weathers in ranked fifth in the conference with a 2.83 earned run average to go along with a 7-3 record.
LAST TIME OUT
Over the weekend, the Bobcats went 5-1 in MAAC play to clinch a spot in the tournament. Quinnipiac split a doubleheader with Canisius on Friday before sweeping both Rider and Niagara to conclude the regular season.
SEEKING THE CYCLE
In the second game against Rider, Keilani Finley nearly recorded the cycle in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. The junior registered the three toughest parts, but was unable to get the single. Finley tallied a double, triple and home run while adding four RBI's and two runs scored.
WALKING OFF
In the first game against Canisius the Bobcats entered the bottom of the seventh tied 1-1. With the bases loaded and two outs, Robey drew a walk to force home the game-winning run.

Freshman Taylor Troyan is the lone Bobcat hitting above .300, occupying a .304 (22-for-73) average with six doubles, 11 RBI's and a .466 slugging percentage heading into the MAAC Tournament. In the last four games, Troyan has four hits in five at bats to go along with three runs batted in.
FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS
Starting pitcher Sydney Robey enters postseason play with three straight wins in her last three appearances. Robey tallied wins over Canisius, Rider and Niagara while giving up just one earned run in 18 innings pitched. Against Rider, Robey pitched a two-hit shutout over four innings before adding a three-hit complete game shutout in the MAAC Tournament clinching win against Niagara.
HURLING HERZOG
Sophomore Casey Herzog led the team with 3.06 earned run average and a 13-13 overall record. In her final two appearances, Herzog picked up two wins while giving up just two hits and zero earned runs over 11 innings pitched. On the season, Herzog recorded 146 strikeouts which ranks fifth all-time in program history for single season strikeouts. She ranked third in the league with 54 MAAC strikeouts.
SEASON HIGH SCORE
In the first game against Saint Peter's, the Bobcats tallied a season-high 10 runs while coming back from a six-run deficit. QU trailed by six after three innings, but scored eight runs in the final four frames to defeat the Peacocks.
ONE DOUBLEHEADER, FOUR HOME RUNS
In the doubleheader against Saint Peter's, Quinnipiac registered four home runs. In the first game, Taylor Troyan and Dani Edmands each took one deep. Troyan tallied a second homer in the second game while Maria Ascher also added her first home run of the season.
TWO-FOR-ONE
In the doubleheader against Saint Peter's, freshman Taylor Troyan recorded two home runs. In the first game, Troyan recorded her first career homer with a two-run shot to center field. In the second game, Troyan connected for a solo home run to left field.
GONE STREAKING
Miranda Magana has been on a recent tear at the plate while currently riding a seven-game hit streak. Over that stretch Magana is batting .500 (13-for-26) with five RBI's, four doubles and two runs scored. In five of those games, the sophomore recorded at least two hits.
MAAC HOPEFULS
The top six teams in the MAAC make the postseason tournament and the Bobcats currently sit in ninth place in the MAAC with a 6-8 record. Quinnipiac's Sunday opponent, Niagara, sits in the sixth spot with an 8-8 record followed closely by Siena and Iona at 7-9. The tournament begins on May 11 at the number one seed.

Against Sacred Heart, starting pitcher Casey Herzog registered her 100th strikeout out of the year while picking up her 10th win. Herzog pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out five batters.
GAME WINNER
In the bottom of the sixth against Sacred Heart, Dani Edmands recorded the game-winning RBI on a ground ball to second base with the bases loaded. Miranda Magana came home from third to capture the game-winning run in a 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart.
WALK-OFF HERO
In the first game against Iona, Miranda Magana hit a walk-off two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bobcats a 3-2 victory. Magana went 2-for-4 in the game with three RBI's while going a combined 4-for-8 with two doubles in the doubleheader.
WEEKEND DOMINANCE
Over the weekend, Robey pitched two complete games, allowing just seven hits and one earned run over 14 innings. Against Fairfield, the senior submitted the best performance of her career, pitching a one-hit shutout while striking out seven batters. She put down 21 of the 22 batters she faced. The following day against Iona, Robey gave up six hits and one earned run while picking up her second straight MAAC victory.
SENIOR DAY
The Bobcats held Senior Day on Sunday, Apr. 24 against the Iona Gaels. Prior to the contest, five student athletes – Dani Edmands, Molly Jarrett, Abby Johnson, Sydney Robey and Katie Strong – were honored for their hard work and dedication to the program.
WINNING IN THE CIRCLE
In starting pitcher Casey Herzog's last four victories in the circle, she has allowed just three earned runs while striking out 25 batters over 27 innings pitched. Against Yale, the sophomore pitched a complete game one-hit shutout while striking out six batters. She followed up that performance with another complete game shutout. Last week against Sacred Heart, the pitcher gave up three hits over six innings and struck out five Pioneers in a 1-0 victory. In her most recent start, Herzog tallied a season-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings against Saint Peter's while picking up the win.
DEALING IN DEFEAT
Against Sacred Heart, freshman Kendall Brundrett was credited with the loss, but registered a stellar performance in the circle. Brundrett pitched six innings, giving up five hits and zero earned runs while striking out five Pioneers.
CROSSTOWN RIVALS
Quinnipiac swept the Yale Bulldogs in a doubleheader at the QU Softball Field on Wednesday, Apr. 13. The Bobcats defeated Yale, 3-1 in the first game before taking game two, 1-0 in walk-off fashion.
CASEY AT THE BAT AND IN THE CIRCLE
In the second game against Yale, Casey Herzog submitted her best pitching performance of her career. The sophomore pitched seven innings of one hit ball while allowing no runs and striking out six batters. After giving up a walk to the leadoff hitter, Herzog retired the next 14 Yale Bulldogs. In addition to her impressive outing in the circle, Herzog went 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
MOLLY'S MAGIC
Against Monmouth, Molly Jarrett reached base five times in two games. The senior went 2-for-3 in the first game before going 1-for-1 in game two while adding two walks, a run scored and an RBI. Jarrett was the only Bobcat to record two hits in the first game against the Hawks.
SYD THE KID
In the first game against Monmouth, Sydney Robey pitched eight scoreless innings before giving up a run. The eight innings marked the longest a QU pitcher has gone without giving up a run all season. Robey responded in her next outing with another great performance. In the first game against Yale, the senior picked up the win while pitching the complete game and allowing just five hits and one run over seven innings.
AGAINST FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
On Tuesday, Mar. 29 the Bobcats swept a home doubleheader against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. Quinnipiac captured the first game, 7-1 before taking the second, 8-2. QU scored 15 runs off 19 hits while Herzog and Sydney Robey combined to allow just two earned runs on the day.
DOWNTOWN ABBY
On Mar. 25 against Maine, Abby Johnson led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homerun over the left field fence. Johnson's first dinger of the year and third of her career gave the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.
ROBEY IN RELIEF
In the sixth inning against Maine on Mar. 25, Sydney Robey came in to replace Herzog with the bases loaded, no outs and the Bobcats leading 4-0. The senior walked in the Black Bears' first run, but struck out three of the next four batters to limit the damage to just two runs.
ON DECK
If the Bobcats win, they will take on No. 2 Manhattan on Thursday, May 12 at 9 a.m. A loss would mean Quinnipiac will play No. 1 Marist on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
