
Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Unanimous No. 1 In USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll for the ninth consecutive week. The Bobcats found themselves as the unanimous top pick after garnering all 34 first-place votes among the votes. Quinnipiac rolled to a pair of 4-1 wins this past weekend, defeating Brown on Friday, Feb. 26 to clinch the Cleary Cup for its second-straight regular season championship before defeating No. 7/7 Yale on Saturday, Feb. 27.The Bobcats were also ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division I Poll as well as the PairWise Rankings.
Six different Bobcats accounted for Quinnipiac's eight goals for the weekend, led by Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) and Luke Shiplo (Oakville, Ontario) who both scored in both games. Shiplo has been dropped into the Bobcats line-up as of late and has scored in three of the last five games he has dressed. For Clifton, his legend grows as he sits at 17 goals for the year after entering the 2015-16 seasons with 12 goals through his first two years with the Bobcats.
Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, Alberta) had a team-high three points on the weekend with a goal and two assists. MacMaster now has four goals and 13 assists for a career-best 17 points. The sophomore now has a goal and four assists in a three-game point streak and four goals and six assists since the start of the second half of hte season.
The Bobcats will have this weekend off with a bye for the first round of the ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament. The Bobcats will host a best-of-three quarterfinals series on Mar. 11-13 at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center.
