
QU Men's Ice Hockey Ranked No. 1 In USCHO.com Poll For Third Consecutive Week

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division I Poll for the third consecutive week, as announced on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016. The Bobcats are currently enjoying an eight-game unbeaten streak, in which they are 5-0-3, and are 20-1-5 overall for the year. In league play, the Bobcats are 11-0-3 and sit in first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with 25 points.
The Bobcats also remain the top team in the PairWise Rankings for the 14th consecutive week. The PairWise Rankings are a system designed to mimic the selection process employed by the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament selection committee. Quinnipiac has now won 20 or more games for the sixth consecutive season as well as in 15 of the Bobcats' 18 8years at the NCAA Division I level.
Quinnipiac is coming off an incredible, come-from-behind win at Dartmouth on Friday, Jan. 29. Quinnipiac trailed by three goals, 5-2, in the third period before the Bobcats rattled off five unanswered goals on its way to a 7-5 victory. Quinnipiac is now 6-1-4 in 11 games in which it has trailed this season.
Sam Anas (Potomac, Maryland) led the Bobcat charge with a three-point night, including the game-tying goal midway through the final period. Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota) provided the game winner on a pass from Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia), who also scored the Bobcats' win. Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) had a goal and two assists to help the Bobcats, while Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia) also had a goal and an assist. Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) had a career-best three assists in the Bobcats' win.
For the year, Anas leads Quinnipiac in goals (17) and points (32) while St. Denis' 13 goals and team-best 17 assists gives Quinnipiac a pair of 30-point scorers. Clifton sits at 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points while Smith has accumulated seven goals and 16 assists to date.
Quinnipiac continues ECAC Hockey play when it hosts Cornell and Colgate at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center on Feb. 5-6. The Bobcats tilt against the Big Red on Friday night can be seen live on SNY.
